PRELIMINARY RESEARCH

In this initial phase of the property assessment you’ll look at specific big-ticket items separately from other land-based ones.

This will be mostly internet based research looking at government websites and the GIS maps they’ll have about the zoning, flooding, utility easements, and land restrictions.

Depending on what you find, you might need to make further inquiries with folks at the municipality office and the seller.

Instructions:

STEP 1. Access the assessment guides and do the preliminary research

  1. Land Zoning
  2. Regulations
  3. Land-use restriction
  4. Water rights
  5. Flood Zone
  6. (Access to) utilities and easements.

STEP 2. Update the Property Assessment Sheet with your findings.
