PRE-PURCHASE PROPERTY ASSESSMENT PROTOCOL

Welcome, on this page you’ll find the pre-purchase property assessment protocol. An exclusive online tool developed specifically for assessing the property for its potential and the deal-breaking type #1 errors you’ll want to avoid at all cost.

You can think of it as a checklist and a how-to guide for the assessment. It will help you to perform due diligence on all the important aspects of the property and allow you to decide if the property is a good candidate.

The pre-purchase property assessment protocol has eight components we look at:

  1. Restrictions
  2. Threats
  3. Topography
  4. Solar access
  5. Water availability
  6. Access
  7. Infrastructure
  8. Soil and vegetation

As you look at various properties you perform the assessment and create a property profile in the accompanying sheet based on your findings.

From now on, every time you want to evaluate a property from a multitude of different permaculture requirements, use this protocol to find out beyond any doubts if it’s a good candidate or not.

Ensure that you are aware of what you’re buying into, so there won’t be any surprises down the line.

Make sure that the site is safe from disasters and toxic influences from the neighborhood.

Recognize the advantages and benefits and avoid properties that might be unusable for what you want to do.

Determine how much sun the prospective site actually receives throughout the year.

Answer to the question of whether you’ll have enough water for your needs or not.

Determine the ease of access to the property, the ease of movement around it, the potential maintenance costs, and what utilities are available and at what cost.

Determine how well the site’s infrastructure contributes to the optimal use of resources and energy.

Ensure a better understanding of the farming potential of the site.
